I got it with v collection 3. Sounds great. I don't know how it compares to the real thing. The presets they give you are plenty enough. Most of the time I am using it for pads and strings. With those presets i can easily sound cinematic, psychaselic, or soulful. It really shines in those two categories for me. If you want v collection 3 for cheap check out jrrshop.com today and click their specials.

The problem with the cs80 is that most of it's particular sound that you hear in vangelis soundtracks comes from the polyphonic aftertouch and ribbon controller, so even the best emulation on earth cant get you close unless you have both things in a midi controller (and I think they dont even exist).

That said the sound isn't bad it still not that close to an original cs-80, but it can do some tricks.

For other good emulation check out Diva by u-he, Lush by d16, and Xils synth's.

I don't find it very useful in terms of modern electronic music. It also sounds a bit thin for what it is. I do use the Jupiter quite a bit though. I think that is their best product.

The only keyboards I know that support poly aftertouch are the ensoniq eps, eps 16+, and asr10

yeah i figured it would sound at least a little different, beings how the cs80v costs 99.00 and the real mccoy is selling on ebay for like, 14 to 17000.00 on ebay. i guess just wondering if it's worth 99.00. i like the mini moog v. that joint sound alright. i might just get the demo or something. yep.

It sounds great, but the UI is shit. I hated making sounds with it so much, I sold both of my V3 licenses. Kudos to Arturia for keeping their older synths up to date, though.
