It seems very roundabout, but i always loved Abletons crash recovery. Sure, it shouldnt crash to begin with... but it does, and that crash recovery was near perfect every time. I loved it

In came ableton 9.. so far I have had 3 crashes, and never got the crash recovery option upon start up.... This is ridiculous.

Where has it gone?

Its nearly impossible to recreate creative surges, whether it be 5 minutes or 5 hours worth of work lost.

it'S the main reason i left logic 9 (that decided to flush that option) to go to live 8
means im never upgrading, live crashes 25 times a day at least and the crash recovery is my lifeline

Yeah, kinda thinking the same thing considering I have at least one BSOD per session. Why would they take that feature away? I lose stuff all the time now because I'm out of the habit of saving every 5 minutes. It was a great feature that meant a crash wasn't a major issue as the only thing lost was time so why drag us back into the 90s Nobody seems to be really mentioning the fact that its gone either which is puzzling. So I'd like to say to any Ableton bods who are on here PLEASE BRING BACK RECOVER YOUR WORK AFTER A CRASH.

had a crash yesterday, restarted Live, recovery option was there as it should be.
contact support if you're not seeing it.

I have had the recovery also...
Working on a huge project that crashes a lot, don't know what's the cause, but everytime I try to render all tracks it crashes.
But I can remember times that there was no recovery after a crash, will keep an eye on it when it happens again.

Thats interesting... so it seems people are in the same boat as me but there are people who get the recovery option as normal

I wonder what is causing this then

I agree, the main wierdness about this, is that there isn't a bigger lash back for this. Maybe the people with this issue are a tiny minority

You guys need to contact Ableton directly and send in your crash reports every time. No reason to let this fester.

Yeh, +1 for recovery as usual. Had a few crashes recently, but per usual a no sweat thing, just restored upon relaunching, back to work.

It's funny, after spending years and years with older versions of Reason, Cakewalk, FruityLoops, just playin the computer music game in general thru the years- Ableton's crash restore was such an amazing thing and now it just seems like such a given, a A+B=C functionality, yknow?

It has proved itself many times (sadly) for me with L9.
On Win XP.

Well as a Windows user one of the first things I learnt doing was pressing the magic "Ctrl-S" every five minutes, no matter what program I'm using (mainly Word back then - did not want to lose my study works and stuff due to the common blue screens...)

So with L9 guess what the most pressed button combo is...

Works fine for me most of the time(at least 90 % - and I don't have much crashes except during live patching experiments). Sometimes, the crash is caused by heavy processing / routing in jitter and open GL, or buffer based operation, and Live meets a serious error and can't rebuild the set. But then I'm sure this is because I do mess up with routing or some kind of memory leak because of my patching abuses.

Seems to work my side. Crashed L9 (something to do with M4L) and when I started up, the crash recovery thingie worked perfectly.

That's just weird. I haven't seen crash recovery once in L9 and my aging PC likes nothing better than a bit of blue screen action. Now I understand why people haven't been breaking down the doors of Ableton HQ. Wonder whats needed to get it working again? Any clues please.
