I haven't seen an inline ad/popup balloons since I signed up for it... maybe it's different by location?

oh I was talking abotu the video ads that now seem to be increasingly going for 30 secs without a skip button

but it could also be different by location. The popups are annoying too, but yes they can be dealt with more easily.

There's little quality in free. Or not for very long at least.

Youtube's content and organization is getting better for it imo.

I dunno if it's regional but i can skip the pre vid ads after a few seconds.

Forge what ya browsing on?

Sorry if you said before; I'd look back but nova would get me conflicted about the badness of US imperialism versus the greatness of Street Hawk and Automan.

yeah I did the opt in for HTML5 - does that mean you can somehow bypass them?

I already use click2plugin which stops them auto-loading, but when I enable it the ad's still there. I can download the video without ads, but I'm not going to do that for every little one

Have you set HTML5 as default media player in ClickToPlugin's prefs???

I never get any in-video ads on YT with that (default) setting.

You mean "Initial behavior: Autoplay"? Of course not with your bandwith limit!

I have:

HTML5

Load media player automatically

Show preview image

720p (your 1080 not a problem with your bandwith???)

Use only as last resort

Do not preload

Instant autoplay

Include media sources

Include plug-in

Include the video's webpage

For ClickToPlugin to work correctly on YT you must leave/deactivate YouTube's HTML5 trial!!!: http://www.youtube.com/html5

With YouTube's HTML5 trial activated ClickToPlugin doesn't work at all for YouTube videos (direct & embedded) here. Shows the YT player and not ClickToPlugin's HTML player.

You see the ads within ClickToPlugin's HTML player?:

Duh! the pic made me realise - I've been doing: right click>restore flash

because sometimes that player was doing funny things like playing out of sync.. I will try it again!

The main reason I wanted it was to stop videos downloading and using bandwidth, so I didn't know I was missing other features....

Other than that I thought it had been working fine with the HTML5 trial

there was another reason I did that which I can't remember, but I thought it was because sometimes click to plugin didn't seem to work

I came to bump this thread because it was shitting me how pretty much all the 2-3 minute videos I'm clicking on now have 30 sec ads with no skip button

But I had a couple of epiphanies

firstly - It was quite a surprise to find in a thread only 1 month old I was actually arguing with myrnova about how fascist the US has become, and I was actually the one arging it was more fascist 8O

secondly, I clicked on suburban thug's soundcloud and am enjoying this squarepusher inspired madness... but I have to say, @suburban thug: you must be seriously close to if not actually a Scot

you've got that dirty ginger look of a Celt infused with a whole bunch of Viking rape like me

In fact:

Well, you really think the U.S.A. government is a dictatorial one? I mean: like Chile, Argentina, Syria, Russia etc.?! If yes, I must disagree with you. the U.S.A. are a very strange country, very contradictory... for instance they have death penalty, no social state, they have to pay hospitals etc. These things make us (european) laugh about. But this does not mean they are kind of a dictatorship, where activists are killed. I see people which I respect and admire (american anarchists and/or people like Stallman, Chomsky etc.) and I can see they are free to express their opinions and belief. What I hate about the U.S.A. is:
(1) their gov. foreign policy, always aimed to WAR and PROFIT.
(2) their fear of "terrorism": american people believe it is for real!

But if you say all this spy matter crap can be dangerous because Obama is like Pinochet, Videla, Assad, Putin or such... well, no. I think he just listened to nr.(2): american people think islam terrorists are FOR REAL and that arabs are a real danger... all this crap. They ask for "security" and all that stuff. I thought the NSA was for these american fears, not against activists.
well, one month later all I can say is...
