"Dr. Kevin Anderson is Deputy Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at University of Manchester (UK). In this brutally honest video, he tells us why the world is almost certainly not going to hold global average temperature rise to 2 degrees Celsius (2C, or 3.6 Fahrenheit). Indeed, he argues that if we try really hard we might hold it to 3C (5.4F) but more likely we'll see "really catastrophic" 4C (7F) or more by the end of this century. What's at stake is civilization itself."

I listened to this talk a year ago and recently found it uploaded on Vimeo. When I first listened to it, I had already been 'Car/Motorcycle Free' for over three years and had committed to a principled 'no fly' stand for the same amount of time...ie, I was reasonably well informed on the issue of profligate energy use, thermo dynamics and Climate Change, with such knowledge leading to my various lifestyle changes.
Despite my understanding and direct action, this talk shocked me.....so, if you're prone to depression or cant cope with reality, don't watch/listen to this talk.

yeah I might avoid it, been struggling enough with the US govt trying to destroy all the bees and food supply with Monsanto, and fuck face Obama giving them positions in the FDA and dept. of Agriculture.
Seriously, greed will be the thing that destroyed us. It's like people are possessed by it.
But I'm seriously mystified that people here are being duped by Rupert Murdoch's king making bullshit.. People don't seem to have a fucking clue that they are only against this government becaue they are being told to be by the media
Tony Windsor said it's been the most productive 7 years of his political career, we have AAA credit for the first time ever, we keep getting voted happiest country in the world, we have the strongest middle class in the world by a wide margin... meanwhile they're worried that a few poor bastards in boats fleeing war and misery might arrive 3,000 kms away from where they live....

Not surprisingly, Australia also tops the chart in terms of CO2 emissions per capita. (Note; the chart source is from the World Bank, put in for the pleasure of the conservatives and conspiracy theorists.)

Kevin Anderson has a very interesting website with some wonderfully refreshing articles, which can be found here;

In one article, he is radically (or not so radically) suggesting that climate change academics and scientists actually lead by example. He goes on to suggest, that we all take personal responsibility for our actions, which would definitely include musicians who, in my opinion, are some of the worst offenders when it comes to their travel schedules, not to mention those that fly to attend carbon neutral 'green'[wash] festivals.

"In a story in The Telegraph of London preceding the 2010 COP 16 climate summit in Cancun, he (Kevin Anderson) said that "politicians should consider a rationing system similar to the one introduced during the last 'time of crisis in the 1930s and 40s,' but that this does not necessarily mean a recession or a worse lifestyle, it just means making adjustments in everyday life such as using public transport and wearing a sweater rather than turning on the heating. “Our emissions were a lot less ten years ago and we got by ok then.”[8]
In a BBC story in November 2009 he clarified further:
"When you have something essential like energy that you can't ration just on price - you have to ration it in a more equitable way. So I would suggest for the high reduction rates that we now need, we need something based on equity and whether it's personal carbon trading or whatever, we have to make sure the poorer parts of our communities have access to energy regardless of price. So that means for the rest of us, who consume lots of energy we are going to have to make significant reductions to our levels of emissions - there is no way round this."

Of course, it's common knowledge that your happiness is in direct correlation to your carbon footprint.
I used half a tonne of South African charcoal to BBQ two fine New Zealand sausages this evening, and I feel amazing.

Sorry, my bad, I expected people to look at the charts posted by Forge to see that they were referring to the 'wealth' of Australia. Thus the correlation is that per capita 'wealth' is closely linked to per capita emissions of CO2. If one believes that 'wealth' equates to 'happiness' then I would have to assume that one is neither wealthy nor happy.
However, if eating sausage helps you to feel amazing, then, by all means, eat sausage.
