I've only just installed Midi Yoke and I'm ready to get my hands dirty with Bidule and Live but...

A. I start Bidule first, I start Live. I get a full screen blue error message thats way to fast to read then the computer restarts. 8O

B. I start Live first then start Bidule, same thing :x

C. I think about Midi Feedback. Open Bidule delete all individual bidules, start Live. So far so good :) Open my recent Live Set, Bidule Disappears without warning. :x

D. Repeat step C. Except this time it works  until I open Hoffman2k's lfo layout. Bidule vanishes once more

E. Comb the forum for help and all i can find are excellent tips and tricks that i could be messing with if the veil of stupidity were lifted from mine eyes

Ok, I took a breather, sank a cup of tea or two and i think i sorted it out. For the benifit of anyone-

MidiYoke NT is the only version available for XP, its a beta and
The driver is not as robust as the Windows 9x driver, is still Beta code and will not be supported -- use at your own risk.
(from the MIDIOX website http://www.midiox.com/index.htm?http:// ... m/mfaq.htm)

To eliminate the possibility of midi feedback, in Live's Midi Prefrences I only have
MidiYoke Inputs 1,2,3,4 enabled and Outputs 5,6,7,8 enabled.

I also turned them all off and on again first, as I'm under the impression this restarts the drivers.

As another safety I saved a blank patch as the default in the Bidule edit menu.

MidiOx's site also directed me here http://www.rme-audio.de/english/faq/10entrye.htm.

With some tips about a XP limitation

Since NT, Windows has an internal list of the 32bit MIDI and wave drivers. These lists can carry up to 10 entries maximum each, after that they will never be reset, deleted or carried further.

This error is a heritage from NT and we don't expect a bug fix in the next (or the next but one) service pack. The error has nothing to do with the known WDM 10 devices limit in Windows 98 or Windows 2000. Instead, it is concerning device drivers, of which each single one can handle as many I/O ports as necessary. The problem appears with audio and MIDI devices of all manufacturers and cannot be solved from the driver side.
I ain't going through the rest of it I've a live set to work on and BIDULE :P :P Peace Out
