Hey all
So whats the best option for launching scenes and clips in Ableton with a non USB MIDI controller? Are there any out there (like the launchpad but that doesn't rely on USB) I want 'traditional' Midi so I can use a thru box and send the same information to 2 laptops running Ableton for a live backup when performing.
Thanks.

There could be various solutions to your problem using virtual midi ports though ethernet.
I think Livid's OHM RGB has midi outs, but it needs to power from an USB.

The reason he is asking is because he wants to configure a redundant backup so if the first computer went down the virtual MIDI ports would probably also go down which would defeat the purpose.
Seems like most grid/matrix controllers are USB only, I can't think of any other than the Livid Instruments products that have actual MIDI out ports.. I suppose you could power the unit with some kind of USB power supply and then run the MIDI into a thru box

Yeah I need real MIDI out ports so then they can run into a MIDI thru box so the same signal can be sent to 2 machines at the exact same time...
Is it just livid?

i think (but am not completely certain) that some of the iConnect MIDI boxes enable sharing of multiple USB MIDI devices.
