Hey everybody,

I'm stuck with this machine, i'm tired with mailing with tech support so i'm posting my questions (and frustrations) here on the board, hoping that someone can help.

i'm using Push for a few months and i never had great results with recording midi notes.
Especially in repeat mode: notes easily keep playing for 2 seconds after i release my finger.
But i have gotten other bugs, like notes that play when recording but somehow don't appear in the note editor (or disappear when the last pad is released).
And other just random things happening.
Strangely, often while playing everything works perfectly, but then i hit record and it all starts acting weird...

I've been mailing with Tech Support patiently but a lot of time and mails passed but my problems have not been resolved.

Things that Ableton suggested so far:

removing all virtual audio drivers (adobe premiere)
updating my mac os
removing all unused midi templates
removing the Livecontrol2 template from Liine (it's "not supported")
disable all Remote buttons from the midi ports
resetting my driver error compensation
updating soundflower
I also swapped the USB cable

Another issue i'm getting is VERY bad midi jitter when in Repeat Mode on 16th notes.
It's like having a very ugly swing on everything...
Ableton has been silence in all of their mails about this issue.

So, does anybody have some of the same issues, or found solutions to this.

I have not been able to use Push for the last 2 months because of this and am seriously considering to sell it as it's not usable like this whatsoever...

Currently, you'd be able to get top dollar for it if you sold it privately.

Other than that...

Check your release settings on the notes you are beat repeating.
Check your Buffer Size on your latency settings.
Check your soundflower settings...try turning it off to see if anything improves.

Try it on a new computer. I doesn't make much sense to me that the Push is what's actually causing these issues.

What kind of pad curve and sensitivity settings are you currently using?

maybe your Push is faulty, but more likely it's an issue with your setup.

have you tried the Push on a different computer? that would help you work out if the Push is at fault, or your computer setup.

you could also try and debug the issue by using MIDI Monitor to watch the MIDI streams. that would help you work out if it is really spurious messages from the Push that are causing problems, or other MIDI weirdness in your setup...

Release settings is not the problem, i have the same issue with any instrument.
Other things i've checked allready.

Accept trying it on antother computer, i havent had the chance to do that...

But yes i assume its a problem with my setup.
Or would it be a Push Software problem...?

Sorry forgot to mention, that was the first thing i checked, its on its normal settings, or not far from that.

I would sell the machine if i didn't enjoy jamming on note view so much:)
Problem is also that i have the feeling that Ableton doesnt know what the problems are causing.

IAC midi ports looping back can cause wierdness like that also.

id also start with having no other midi controllers/devices hooked up at all and listed in the midi prefs (if you have any others). live9 has a weird habit of trying to auto-assign midi ins/outs, and in my case it does it wrong about 50% of the time and causes bad midi feedback loops which cause live to crash. So a similar thing may cause other midi issues besides crashing the whole application

I've tried it with the most basic setup:
-no other midi controllers/usb hubs
-even no external audio interface
-live session with a single instance of Analog

Same problems...

The reason i suspect Ableton not knowing what it is, is that their replies are getting VERY slow

What do you guys think i should expect from Ableton in my case?
As you can see in the video's i can't use Push seriously, and i'm getting really tired of that.

Maybe as a last resort and before getting rid of Push .. Have you tried deleting and doing fresh install of the latest Live?

I haven't, and i find it somewhat absurd to think in terms of this.
I bought a brand new product and am using the latest software, and i'm being forced to consider selling it...

I suffer from hanging notes as well. I have the idea that it occurs more often with cpu heavy vst's, like Arturia Analog lab, etc.

If the real cause is clear, I def want to know.

I had hanging notes. Where a random note might stay stuck.

It'd resolve if I closed and re opened Live. Maybe even a new set.

But lately I have not been having that problem at all. Things I do differently involve:

Changing my pad sensitivity and curve settings
Being more patient as I switch between drum and key modes
Using my Push more
Using it on a different type of surface (from desk or lap, to using it on a piece of wood across a keyboard stand, don't know why that'd help though. Personally I'd elevate the back end just a smidge)

I don't know if any of those actually helped. But those are the only changes I've made. I think the most influential for me was changing the sensitivity/curve ratio (no more stuck notes).

It really doesn't take that much time at all. You may have gotten a bad download the first time? I would have to start eliminating things like this. It has happened before.. you'll never know unless you give it a go. My thoughts are leaning towards this. Start with a new default set.. JMO

I made a new template set, don't know if anthing had to do with it but,
the problem shifted today from hanging notes into Live recording notes that never have been played.
I made another video about it while monitoring the incoming midi data:

you probably can't read the incoming midi data, but it's clear that the problem isn't with Push.
Live just "makes up" these notes randomly.

Anybody seen anything like this?
