Hello,

I am just seeing if anyone else is having this problem with Live9 and Max. I posted in the Cycling forums and didn't get too much help. I have a support ticket in but still have not gotten a response. I tried the suggestion from the forum reply but it did not work.

I am trying to make my first syth with Max and am utilizing the help to try and teach myself the objects. The problem is that looking in the help for lets say the cycle~ or live.gain objects etc. causes Max to crash. Live will not crash but Max hangs and I have to force quit Max to start again. My work is lost and I have to start over again.

I would just like to see if anyone else is having the same problem or could try this scenario out on their machine. If you are can someone please respond? If nobody else is then I know it is a local problem and I can deal with it. If others are, then I know it is a Max issue and will just need to wait till it gets updated.

I just checked your video and was able to reproduce the crash. I believe it has to do with the audio settings in Max. Try the following:

1. load an empty m4l instrument
2. open it and add a cycle~ object
3. right click on it and open help
4. before you click on the speaker, open Options - Audio status an set it to on
5. click speaker and close help
--> Max doesn't crash

Options - Audio status is set to off each time you open help, therefore you have to set it to on every time you open help. I guess there is a way to change this permanently but since I didn't work on audio devices so far I had never the need to dig into that.

Thank you for testing this. Going through your procedure works. It does not crash. Unfortunately audio still does not play. Which is should and seems to work in Windows for some reason. If you have the Audio Status window open while you click the speaker icon in the helper patch it turns it on and off.

So this appears to be a bug with Max and audio objects. I will just have to wait till they fix it. I submitted a bug report to them. hopefully they test it and can get it fixed in the next update.
