Question about Sampler and Samples.

Hi Everyone,
Pretty new to this so bear with me. I'm running Ableton 9 Intro while I get a bit more used to it. I've used Ableton in the past but this is the first time I've had it for myself. Anyway for this question I'm want to make backing tracks for my guitar so simple, clean; drums, guitars, bass etc. I downloaded the Guitar and Bass Live pack from Ableton but I don't appear to be able to use most of it because I don't have the instrument Sampler.
3 questions really...
Should I invest in Sampler as I am likely to come across this problem a lot?
Can anyone advise how else to get the kind of samples that I am talking about above that can be used use with Intro - I thought this is what Simpler was for?
I want to upgrade to the standard version of live but it doesn't come with Sampler either so I would have to buy both which is getting quite expensive for me at the minute. Would the standard version of Live have more of these sounds just in the core library or anything?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Paul
