Updated CM-505 VST, now Live 4.1.2 crashes

Hi all, something weird just happened. I had used LinPlug's CM-505 VST on Live 4.1.2 on a PC/Windows XP, and decided to update it to the latest version that came with Computer Music March 05 issue.

I copied the new CM505.dll over the old one, started Live and loaded the set that used CM-505. Immediately got a message to the effect of "a serious program error has occurred. Save under a new name and restart".

Now Live crashes consistently when I try to load that set. The funny thing is that when the crash happens I can't even quit Live anymore. File/Quit does not work, and neither does the Windows XP close icon. I just get the same message as above. So I have to kill Live from the Task Manager. (And I still get the same message before Live finally gets killed.)

Live was not running when I updated CM-505. I rescanned the plug-in folder after the first crash but it didn't make any difference.

Furthermore, now when I create a new set and add CM-505 to a MIDI track, I can't access the CM-505 user interface because there is no spanner button in the device window anymore, just the on/off button and the fold away button.

So, what the hell is happening here? LinPlug is good and CM-505 is supposed to work with Live (gleaned from the posts here). Did I do something wrong?
