Will my mix be affected?

I live in a dorm. Which you may expect- it gets noisy.
Another guy down the same hallway as me produces music as well.
Often he plays his music very loud and I get the lo-end in my room.
He doesn't lower it at all, and I'm not going to sit and whine about it because it could be a lot worse.
My only concern is will it affect my mix? I'm getting a pair of monitors this week and am excited to set them up.
Will the lo-freqs that travel into my room hurt my mix?
The low end I'm recieving from his speakers/sub isn't entirely crazy, it's not vibrating my room, it's just I can hear it. It kind of sounds like a club when I go into my bathroom >.>
