I had this problem before and someone told me here that i should stop using VSTis.

What happens is that after a while of working (and with a large quantity of tracks...say 20 stereo trax) Live begins increasing the CPU heavily, specially if i am with a large zoom level (the snap is 1/32 or more). So when i just open the document i can work fine for a while (it says 20 to 40% of CPU load), but after some minutes and edit the CPU bar turns crazy and the dropouts begin. At first i thought it was something related to the heat on my hds but i´ve tried to open the session from several different hds and it´s not that really.

So i decided to load my VSTis on a remote pc using teleport, so that the main CPU wouldn´t be so stressed, but i still have the same problem.

Anybody seen this before? any help or suggestion?

which version of Live do you use? Already the latest version 4.1.2?

Does this CPU increase when zooming in does happen always or just in a special Live set?

Yep i´m using 4.1.2 and it happened with all versions before (talking about 4.x).

This increase happens always and in all songs that have a big number of warped tracks. I´ll be doing some tests these days to let you know better how and when it´s happening (i´ll be watching if there´s a special circunstance that causes this to happen).

By the way, i have a PC 2,8 Ghz with 1GB RAM...with this specs i could be working fine with 20 warped tracks, couldn´t i?

Check the temperature and speed of your processor ... you can download a free utility, I forgot the name of the one I used but google should help u.

You might find after about 5-10 mins the processor starts to get very hot, and automatically slows down to compensate. I had the prob on a 2.4 Ghz P4 laptop (with a desktop processor) which ended up performing worse than my old 700Mhz machine!!
