Best way to connect to iPad (w/o adhoc)

After a lot of tweaking, I got my iPad and Mac/Live talking. However, there are latency issues that I'd rather not produce around. I have the Camera Connection Kit, but from what I can tell, it's generally used for USB devices to talk to your iPad... not your actual computer. For the record, I just want Live to send Midi to iPad, and route the sound back to Live. I can do this w/ Wifi, and for some tunes it's no biggie. Anything with a quick attack though, and it's noticeable.
Thanks

The nifty thing about the camera connection kit is that it supports a few audio interfaces and midi devices.
If you happen to have an audio interface with midi, then you'd be able to connect with that. But not all interfaces work, you'd have to look up which ones do work.

I use this to route midi between my ipad and computer, and it's extremely more reliable than using the wifi/adhoc. As others have said there are some audio interfaces that include midi as well.
There is one box that I am really excited for:
http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectMIDI4plus
It uses audio pass through, which from what I understand, allows you to keep your audio in digital format between the iPad and the computer, meaning you don't have to worry about low quality DACs between your iPad and computer. It also has regular midi ports, and lots of other cool tricks.
I've been reading about it for like a year, and haven't seen anything about it being released yet, so I don't really know what that means. They have talked about it on their website like it's a product that's out there, except it's not.

If you are using an iPad 1-3 then the Alesis iO Dock is great.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess the iCONNECT Midi 2 is what I'm after right now then. The Connect 4 seems a little too big for what I need. In fact, so does the 2 but I'll try to make some space. The Alesis, while cool, is not going to be for me. As I'm only planning to send MIDI to the iPad, I'd rather have it as upright as possible.
Unfortunately the iCONNECT MIdi 2 isn't available locally. Will have to grab it on my next trip over the pond.
Thanks again!
