Morning Forum People (or afternoon)
I have recently started using ableton live 9 lite after deciding to move from being a club/ event DJ to focus more on production.
I have built up a basic system so far including midi controllers, purpose built pc including sound card etc.
I am just about to, at the end of this month, buy ableton full suite. After using lite for 2month and getting comfortable with the layout and user interface I now want to allow myself to see its full potential.
The problem I have is a friend (that old chestnut). I have a friend who uses cubase... cracked... Myself, being a very experienced PC user and DJ, I have a real problem with cracked software and any pirated software in general. So I am holding back from using any of the software he offers me. My question is this..
Am I being the moron by not installing this software or should I stick to my guns and pay for the products I am going to use. The stuff in question is Cubase and vst plugins such as massive, fm7 etc. All I ever see him do is say 'ah this shouldnt do this' or 'yeah I cant get the crack for this yet' and I have tried to explain to him that time he is wasting on looking for workarounds could be used to actually produce music!
Just to put things into perspective, over the next 3month, I will be purchasing Ableton live 9 suite and Traktor Komplete9 (includes massive/ fm8 etc)
So.... stick to my guns, buy software and packs that I am 100% sure will work and pay money accordingly?
or
Utilise all this software I am offered and save myself money but cost myself time and possibly cock everything up in the process?
To me its a no brainer, but more input is always appreciated. You guys are using this software everyday, your advice will be heeded.
Cheers Guys
