Hi all,
so now "the other" German sequencer has been taken over as well, by Pinnacle, who are mainly concentrating on the PC market...

Find more info here:

Steinberg says that they will continue to support the Mac... Though my guess is: Only for the time being....

Here's their statement:
This is an official communication from Steinberg Media Technologies AG regarding its acquisition by Pinnacle Systems, Inc. In this statement, we would like to answer some of the expected questions about the future of Steinberg products. You can find the text of the press release concerning the acquisition on www.steinberg.net.

How will Steinberg's product strategy develop in the future?
Steinberg will continue to develop its product portfolio in the future.

Will products or product groups be discontinued?
No, this is not planned.

Will all platforms, for example Macintosh, continue to be supported?
Yes, Steinberg will continue to support all platforms.

Your Steinberg Team

Then we can lose VST support and wait for AU's with all the cheerful Logic users.

I don't care either, I'll never buy Cubase as long as Live keeps improving. Maybe I'll get DP if the X version kicks butt. I just want my TC works reverb to show up in my VST folder!

hi. motu has consistantly pissed me off due to lack of decent support and a SNOTTY attitude..
they even told me to "look elsewhere" for a platform to work with in osX.
when i founf LIVE i decided that 1.5 and reason 2.0 is all i need.

i'd still like to get a desktop wintel box to run audiomulch...heheehe.

My Metric Halo Mobile I/O works fine with my TiBook...
I know someone who's had some crashes with his 828, though he seems to like it well enough.

Actually, my company sells Pinnacle products. Our turnkey systems are almost exclusively on Apple computers. (Aside from Avid Symphony which has nothing to do with Pinnacle...) Pinnnacle is firmly established as a hardware front end for Final Cut Pro. I don't see them moving away from the Mac any time soon.
