What are the best entry-level headphones (less than $50)?

I'm new to headphones and doing some research on low-priced models, but I can't figure out which ones are the best. A key thing I'm looking for here is durability. Granted, it's obvious that cheap headphones and durability probably don't go well together, but since I'm on a very limited budget, I'd like to find the best headphones for the price. A couple models that look promising:
-JVC Flats
-Panasonic RP-HTX7
-Sennheiser HD201s or HD202s
-Sony MDR-ZX300 or some extension on that name
Please understand that I'm very new to the world of audio; if you have a better suggestion for the price range, go for it.

The best headphones I remember using under $50.00 were something by jvc that they dont make anymore.
Since then I haven't found any pair of headphones that retail for under $100 to be worth using for making music. I have a pair of beyerdynamic dt-770s that I bought for $75.00 on Ebay once, it was the only insanely good deal I have ever got on ebay. Maybe try there.

Whats the point of that huge signature? It doesn't even link to anything. What is it your even advertising? Is it a bed and breakfast? Some European hostel? Its obvious you thought 'I will use a bright ass color to grab thier attention and then I will make it huge to lure them in'. It makes me never want to visit your motel.
Your signature doesn't even fit on my screen since I zoom in on this forum.

Step 1: Save up a bit and don't buy anything below 200 bucks. Good companies are Beyerdynamics, Sennheiser, Audio Technica...

Step 2: Get rid of that annoying banner! It's really not making you friends here!

I would recommend Superlux HD-668 B. They sound almost as good as my higher priced AKGs.

Ive done pretty well with sony MDR range. Although Ive got the £120 ones, they do seem to have a good range. Can hear very low bass in them, can even mix quite happily and they always show some sounds i need to remove (that Im not able to hear through my monitors).

Probably the best idea is to go to a dj shop and test different ones out

No, so maybe they are the amazing exception :)

Search some info on Superlux headphones. They offer (by far) the best price/quality ratio out of the ones I've come across in the budget range, mostly because they are really pretty decent and silly cheap.

Here's a nice article to get you started. Be sure to check out the new version of the HD-681 model (EVO), though, it's got that treble issue remedied.

Edit: I notice anra already mentioned Superlux :), but seriously, they are really something.

A great place for info on headphone value and sound quality is here: http://www.head-fi.org/

You can search for what people say in the forums about any model you are considering.

1: I'm saving up for KOMPLETE, so that may take a while.

2: Done. It wasn't actually supposed to advertise anything, so there was really no point in having it there. My apologies :)

If you were to have an absolute "min" I would set your bar at about $100. Around that mark there are some good entry level options: AKG-K240 (the original versions can be found around $110), KRK (good for starters)...
