Live is getting very slow

From time to time I use Ableton to create a Mix. I put 12 or 15 songs into a set and create crossings. The last time, I did it, was with Live 8.
Yesterday I did it with live 9.1 and when I drag my first song sample into live, live is getting very slow, the menue opens after 6 or 10 seconds, the whole programm behaves as it would crash every moment. After the second song sample I stoped working, because it was to much for live. The samples of the songs are mp3 and not longer then 5 minutes or bigger then 8 MB.
Anyone else has this problem?

If you only just installed Live and use it, it's probably scanning your hd...
You can see it at the icon in front of places.

I think you mean the indexing, but after analyzing the sample and after 1 minute or more Live is working slow, i.e. when I will open the edit menue on the top, it took a few seconds to open it.

What is strange is that you have SSD and this problem. Exactly why an SSD is on order for me.
Stupid question, is is possible you just need to do a defrag (or are you even supposed to do that with SSD? )

I'm on Live 9.1 32 bit.
No Defragmentation on SSD!! It is required to deactivate the automatic defragmentation. This could destroy your SSD.

Thanks for the info, I'm just getting mine built right now.
I wish I had more to help. I find it strange that with the SSD it's getting slower

I agree with you OP, Ableton Live 9 is very slow. It takes awhile for the windows circle or mac beach ball to stop spinning for me to even begin doing anything. I feel lives clunkiness is due to indexing. The program really feels like its still in beta..just a slow pain in the ass.
I don't agree that you should need over 4 gigs of ram just to start the program. I remember using live 6 with 756 meg of ram and it started up normally,I remember using ableton live 2 with 128 meg of ram and that also started fine.
Live 8 still opens fine though so I am pretty sure it is down to shity indexing. GIVE PEOPLE THE OPTION TO TURN THAT SHIT OFF PLEASE!!

Are you really surprised..? I have a MBP with 8 gigs (2011 MBP) and it takes roughly 2-3 minutes to get an empty template from clicking on the dock to an open window. Add another 2 minutes to load a set. Using Live 64 bit 9.1.
