Reinstall Ableton without using the 2nd Registration Key

Hello,

I've posted few days ago about Ableton's folders which are missing :

/Users/[username]/Library/Preferences/Ableton/
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Ableton/
/Users/[username]/Library/Caches/Ableton/

It doesn't seem to be a problem running Ableton but I'd like to install a plugin in Max For Live and I'd like to totally delete Ableton and Reinstall it to get the folders but how can I do to avoid Ableton asking me a new Registration key (I don't want to lose my second one stupidly, 2 are already not enough :?)

Thanks ! :D

In my experience, they are very easy to work with regarding re-installations. I've never had any issues after re-installing across the couple of machines that I use. In fact, I believe the authorization is tied to your computer, not the actual instance of the installed software -- meaning you should be able to re-install it as much as you wish.

That said, if you find yourself needing a new authorization and it is unavailable, just send them a support ticket stating what has happened. They aren't trying to prevent legitimate users from authorizing software they've purchased, they're just trying to keep you from giving it to your friends. As long as you aren't going through this several times a year, you shouldn't have too many issues.

In the last 8 years I set up my windows 7 and XP before once in a year, sometimes twice and I've never had problems with the registration. Sometimes I got a mail from ableton, that my contingent of keys are exhausted, but when I told them the reason, they gave me some more keys.

Don't worry, ableton is a good company in this case.
