Jamming with chords and Push

Post by tsm1979 » Tue Dec 17, 2013 4:41 pm

Hey guys,

I'm no keyboard player but can put together some nice progressions using the chord device and trial and error. I'm expecting a Push for Xmas and was wondering if there was anyway I can jam with different chords using the pads and multiple chord devices. I was thinking of creating 8 midi tracks with 8 chord devices (all using a different type of chord). Problem with this approach is I would need to arm each track individually if I wanted to play the corresponding chord.

Does anyone have a better solution?

Any advice appreciated :)

Push is great, I'd recommend the native kontrol scripts for extended functionality. you can assign any type of chord you want to the pads. verrrrry cool.

Had a look through those scripts but the documents aren't very easy to understand!

If I had a video it would all become clear! :?

I just want to select a scale and key and then jam away on the pads to make some awesome chord progressions :)

Cool vid. Looking at the feature sets for various PXT scripts for push and LPC for launchpad, it's hard to tell exactly what the differences in the scale mode functions are. Other than aftertouch with Push, anyone familiar with both scripts and know if there are advantages to the Push scripts over the launchpad when it comes to playing scales (all I would be using the script for)?

if you're ONLY using scale I would say Push's default functionality is fine. Are novations pads velocity sensitive?

Fairly happy with Touchable and some other various hardware to control Live, but I'm at the point of wanting each controller to have a specific function like Push or Launchpad static for scales. Right now, I don't own a Launchpad or Push and I'm wondering how comparable the scale mode functions are between the two are with the extended scripts? I can work around not having the aftertouch on a Launchpad, just wondering if I'm only using scale mode, is the script and Push 400 bucks better? Not trying to derail ya man, the vid just got me thinking.

I wonder if the launch pad script will work on the launch pad mini. That's would be a great dedicated pad based midi input. Touchable and push is going to be a bit redundant.
