Hi, I have a working liveset in 8.5/OSX 10.8.5 and everything runs perfectly! I've very concerned about upgrading to 9.x because the liveset is pretty complicated. I have plugins loaded (Arturia V-Collection, Vizzable, etc), I'm doing triggering via the IAC driver. I have a lot of MIDI Mappings triggering tracks on/off, fx automation, etc. I don't have another gig for a month so I'm thinking about doing the upgrade now but if I can't get it working by then I'm sunk since my entire live performance relies on what is working now!

A few specific questions:
-can I upgrade to 9 while still keeping my 8.5 version available to use if all else fails?
-Will my MIDI Mappings transfer? I've copied my liveset from one computer to another before and the mappings got lost...there are A LOT of mappings!!
-From what I'm reading I shouldn't need 64-bit. Am I making a mistake by sticking with 32-bit? I do plan on doing more with video/Vizzable, etc.

Any other tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've heard, direct from Ableton (https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/64bit-myths-facts/)and elsewhere, is that you should move to 64 bit when you run out of available memory in your sets, and not for any other reason. In other words, you'll know when you should move to 64 bit because you won't be able to run your sets without doing so.

Upgrade, any tips? If you're going to do it, upgrade while they'res a discount.
Collect All and Save. Copy the Project Folder completely, right? Backing up's your friend.
Yes, indefinitely keep 8 in your application folder. Run just the copy through 9. The engine will upgrade-I forget the precise wording of the prompt, but you should be able to defer to the playback engine in 8 if things misbehave and you then divert back to it.
You may observe a number of your devices in legacy mode. For your purposes, leave them there.
If you download the 64 bit, I suspect you'll loose compatibility of some of your vsts unless you've already investigated each one individually and confirmed that they are all available and installed properly into the pointed to plug-in folder. And you'll definitely loose your automation on those device lanes because the implication is you are definitely not using them currently. I think that's the real hold-out to using 64-bit.
