clip naming is unacceptable to me

Hello,

I have to say that from my understanding the clip naming procedure seems to be almost completely thoughtless. I make my own loops and I have to name them twice and use a special comand to do so. This is a massive waste of time. My sugestion is to be able to name clips one time in the clip view. Not once in the browser and once in the clip view. Plus if you make the mistake of naming in the browser first you are then doomed to have your clip remain with its original session view number name every time you load it in to the session. As ingenous as live is I am shocked by this. Please make this basic house keeping proceduce more straight forward.

thank you,
Jack

Hey Jack - glad to see you on the boards! We met at Laptopalooza, you won the copy of Live 3, right?

Anyways, what can I tell you about Clip naming - it's a good feature request, but consider this - you can have multiple clips of the same audio file - that's why there's a two stage clip naming issue. If I have one audio file with 2 dozen clips, that's possible, but if they automatically update when you change one clip, you'll have problems with the other 23. Not to mention other sets that reference that same audio file...

I know it's not the answer you want, but I don't see a workaround...

I hear you both

if the number came after the track name sorting things out would be so much easier though!!

Maybe have a "Rename Audio File" button right next to the clip's naming field, that would remane the file with whatever name you had filled in.
