Question about Cracked Versions

Got a question for you all about the ableton software. As we all know plenty of people pirate audio and program software all the time. Ableton is obviously heavily pirated. So, as we know a lot of famous producers get caught using pirated or cracked plugins and software. Does doing so cause any degradation to the final product? For example, theoretically speaking a cracked instance of Massive is perfectly identical to it's authorized counter part, no? What about the ableton software itself. Is a pirated version identical to the authorized version? What difference does it make on the computer itself, what differences exist if any?

Cracked copies of Live leave an indelible watermark on the exported audio. If a certain frequency is isolated there is an audio watermark that can be decoded by Ableton..

short answer.. don't do it, they will find you.

I found that the audio files from cracked versions have a watermark, but it can be removed. The water mark is the letter "C" embedded in the wave file. If you open the wave in an editor such as Notepad++ and do a search and replace for "C", replace it with "0". Now Ableton will no longer be able to track this wave file on soundcloud or youporn.

Thanks to forum user R-h3nk3 for this tip.

I started off with a cracked version, then went paid, but then switched back to the cracked version as I felt it had a "warmer" sound to it. I know this is a personal thing, but I like what I like.

Famous producers wouldn’t be famous if cracked software caused problems in their mixes. So go for it. You’ll be fine.

this is your standard bangin EDM track waveform:

Image
the software was paid for and it has a phat VST limiter after the legit VST compressor after the mastering preset on the master channel.
this track was number 1 on beatport 7 times.

this waveform is a track made by someone using cracked software:

Image
notice how the track in this second image is all open and cracked out looking... no Pro would ever make a track that looks like that.
it's totally amateurish, the person who made it probably thought they could get away with an EQ and volume edits. noob factor 11.

They might be identical in theory, but some secret emails the NSA got from Ableton (which they sent to me) state that they made a divine conctract. When you use a pirated
copy of Live and have Wifi or Bluetooth active at the same moment, *HE* will recognise, and you will be send directly to hell.

So stay legit to be safe.;)

i think many people use the crack version before buying,
so in the end it creates more customers eventually.

the only difference with a crack is that you wouldn't feel
to have helped those who helped you create your music.
After all what you put into something is linked to what you
get out from the experience.

some people never pay for things, thats just life and what
does it matter- its down to one's own conscience, people can
get quite quite angry about this subject but why not
concentrate on what you do in life and how you think.

All debate is good it feels good to go legit,
controlling anything too tightly creates a situation like
sand flowing through a tightly clenched fist.

Abletons protection system i think creates the right balance,
if the product is loved by people they will eventually buy it,
unless they really cannot,in which case then it is not a loss.

ableton is great!,i love it:)

Thanks?

I'm gonna assume the attitude is from the assumption that I use a cracked version? I don't. I'm just curious of the differences? Shouldn't be that big of a deal to ask, lol...

This is false. But of course people know that already. I HAS A DEMO. If you can't figure it out with the demo, you're just a fucking crackhead. People crack because they are cheap ass bastards. (and most of them have mommy and daddy to flip the bill so please spare me the "some can't afford it" BS :) )

I like how people who use cracked software and have concerns about it always pretend it is someone else they are talking about when they post.
