help me decide soft (run on iPad) or hard (run on hardware) Push?

What is your experience on using this or these two?

Are you talking about Touchable2?
Do you own an iPad already?
If the answer is yes then get both.
If the answer is no then get a Push.

I don't believe tapping on an iPad is comparable to working with Push in terms of expressive playing. That is, if velocity sensitivity is an issue to you.

The two complement each other nicely; you get to dive into MIDI mode on iPad for fine tuning, and have instant control over track volume etc while you jam on Push.

No sure what is Touchable2. I am looking at the Ableton Push in iPad, which is on sale now.


I love expressive playing and also own an iPad. For budgeting reason, hardware Push may be a case for me now, but not the end of the case of owning a hardware Push in the future.

Do you mean I DO NOT HAVE TO "dive into MIDI mode on iPad for fine tuning, and have instant control over track volume etc " if I work on hardware Push? My understanding is the Ableton Push in iPad mimic everything except the playing expressions.

I haven't used those I'm afraid, sorry. Only Touchable here (which is fantastic).

To me it is very simple, I use both.

- Touchable is a nice toy (note input is not working here on OS 10.9)
- Push is a real work tool, not perfect but very effective.

(P.S. to those who don't use both, please don't write here!)

I have both the lemur template and the real Push. Definitely prefer the real push because you can play with different velocities, it's a larger area, and you can play without looking very often. On the iPad you have to look all the time and you can't play different velocities. If I had to choose only one it would be the real deal. The functionality is about the same, but the main thing I love about the Push is playing the pads to create melodies and rhythms, so for that you can't beat the real one.
