Korg nanokontrol2 - unable to map to mixer faders

Strange problem with my nanokontrol2
I tried to map it to a volume fader but it wouldnt accept the mapping when i started moving the fader in midi mode. I can map to send knobs no problem but for some reason i cant map to volume sliders
Anybody got any ideas whats wrong here? thanks
