MPD-16: Live not recording midi properly

Hey all. Just a quick question... I use an MPD-16 for programming beats in Reason all the time, and Live's giving me no love. When recording, around 60% of my hits on the pads are not recorded as MIDI data.

For instance, say I'm using Impulse... When I'm recording and I hit pads I HEAR the hits, but Live records nothing. Is this a timing issue? It works perfectly with my ReMOTE 25 if I use the keyboard to play the drums, but the MPD-16 is totally wonky. If I smash the pads at velocity 127 it recognizes better, but still not 100%.

Any help apprecaited.

check your record quantize setting, maybeyou have it set to something high like quarter notes?

If you can, try using the other connector on the MPD. My USB just stopped working one day for some reason, but the MIDI connector worked fine. Then I sold it. Woot.

same problem here, but with a Yamaha DD-55. Some notes will record, but most not. I have tried all diferent Quantize setups incl quantize off, but no result. My guess is that the midi note is to short to record.
Hope there will be a solution for this.

Yeah! That's what I think it is... Cause the harder I hit the pads, the more likely I will record something. It's that the gate time of the notes are incredibly short, and Live must assume that it's a mistaken hit and doesn't record anything - but it sure plays stuff, in Battery 2, and Impulse.

I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Nope - that's not it... At least I don't think so.

I got the same problem with drum pads similar to dd-55.

Can play using battery, can't record midi properly...

Anyone find a solution yet?

hi, just a suggestion,

If you use the mpd 16 only with usb, just change to midi out and a seperate power supply. I had the same problem and this did help.

best regards

Is there a way to extend notes or ignore note-off messages in Live??

so it looks like its happening on a variety of soundcards.. is there some midi preference setting or something that we're missing?

also mysterious because it sounds totally fine when playing it in, but on playback is all messed up. messed around with the quantizations settings too. .

anyone?
