Can I build a quadraphonic (4-channel) panner?

With Max for Live , can I build a automated panning control that will swirl sound around 4 channels?
If so , how do I get started? thanks

You'll have to use the sends i believe as you only have one set of outputs on each channel... Totally doable if not done already!

There is a M4L device called "3D Panner" freely available on maxforlive.com's library. I haven't tried it yet but I think it does exactly what you are talking about.

start with the max api sendsPan effect and put an LFO on it ;)

Alternatively, & as mentioned above, use the Max Api SendsXnodes.

Then experiment with the various LFOs. Map the LFO to the Azimuth parameter.

The LFO.amxd is a good basic device, it's part of Max for Live Essentials/Max Audio Effect/Control Devices. It also has a Re-Trigger button which comes in handy.

Experiment with the Curve control on the SendsPan & SendsXnodes. SendsXnodes has some unique parameters like Expand & Spread.

Envelope followers are also fun to make the signal move through your speakers based on audio signal levels.

there is also an updated LFO (2.1.4 or something) by mr. henke which is very much improved. it has up+down ramps (which if i remember correctly werent in the orig.). these are really good for surround sound movement effects.

The stock LFO and the building tool don't reset their phase properly when starting the transport, which can be a real pain when you want to generate precise paths using two together. I tried Henke's LFO which is pretty smart but the saw up has a flat section at the beginning and end of the waveform and I couldn't get rid of that. Must have missed something...

Is this "flat section" what causes the waveforms to pause? I've found that a number of available LFOs Ramp up & Ramp down waveforms have a have either a pause or a bump in the flight path, & won't make a proper contiguous circle for example.

Have you tried this one?
