I like the look of this Arturia step sequencer drum thang, class compliant and cheap velocity and pressure sensitive pads, etc .. But with a twist...

But beyond that trigger-happy, percussion-friendly facade lies a wealth of flexible features for creating mind-blowing music. Switch to SEQ (sequencer) mode and those backlit LEDs become blue for instant visual confirmation of the mode change. The pads now perform a different function, too. Each one represents a step in a 16-step sequence while pitch adjustments for each step is available via BeatStep's 16 encoders.

I like the look of this, and would already know a good use case for my set up. But the livid stuff is always so expensive...

There ought to be more mixer styled MIDI controllers on the market. Dunno why there aren't.
Plenty of 2 and 4 channel DJ ones but not a lot for DAW users. The "control surfaces" tend to only have faders and buttons, with a distinct lack of knobbage.
Apparently the Livid one is "under $500" (according to other sites).

The cheapskate cheezoid in me is entranced by the wireless keytar from Alesis. $199 .
I feel the desire to power slide on my knees across the stage while playing a sync mod solo. Bits of crummy looking plastic falling off it all the way.

Yes, a cape towel and kneepads go great with the stage sliding image.
Elektron is top notch as usual, but I was impressed with the kind of thought put into the Trigger Finger 2. Did not expect that.

Korg Gadget has me happier here.
That Dubspot Livid controller was done with a huge bit of help from David Cross, formerly from Ableton US. Super nice guy too.

I am glad he seems to be going by "Dave Cross" now (by the looks of the promotional material), helping me to stop thinking of him as that comedian who was in Arrested development. Which was a bit weird.

What does it mean to be class compliant? Does that mean it wont burn your house down? Personally I like a UL rating.
That Livid controller is pretty nice. Looks like it was made for sends.
