Dear all

I am an artist who is new to the whole Ableton Live thing, and although its straight forward to use Im getting ready for my first gig and want to get a control unit/keyboard so as to eliminate, as much as possible, the use of the mouse, and feel more 'hands on'.

My set is made up of .wavs, stripped from my tracks, so really Im looking for a controller to punch in loops, fade in/out, and tweak and mess with effects on each channel

My problem is, having looked through most of this forum, and others, I still dont know the best, and most suitable controller to go for...

PLEASE HELP/ADVISE....my gig is in 5 weeks and want to be ready!

If you contact me with a good tip/piece of advise that sorts me out, Ill send you a cd of my set

Many Thanks

Uc33 from evolution + an Lx-1 micromodule from faderfox is a good combo.
More buttons, knobs and faders then you can handle.

Cheers

I've been using the novation remote 25 and I love it!

yup. although in retrospect, it seems almost silly that I paid about 80€ more for the UC33 than for my bcr2k - the bcr is really classy compared to the U

the m audio trigger finger and the bcr2000 combination is pretty killer
so far.
i like to use pads for live and keys for composition,
so i also have an edirol pcm1 keyboard.
i would suggest thinking about the type of control you feel most comfortable with..
do you need something more like a traditional mixer set up?
do you want to trigger buttons, hit pads, or play keys?
how complex will your set be?
how many triggers per als will you need?

It really depends on what you're going to do with your controller. If you want to trigger one shot samples or trigger your loops on the quantized beat, go for something with lots of buttons.

For instance:

http://www.akaipro.com/productsMPD16.html
http://www.faderfox.de/Faderfox-Homepag ... glish.html

If you want to play virtual instruments like a synth, go for a keyboard.

If you want to do live mixing with multiple tracks, go for something with lots of knobs and faders

http://www.behringer.com/BCR2000/index.cfm?lang=ENG
http://www.evolution.co.uk/products/evo_uc33e.htm

Naturally, you have a bijillion choices. If you want a one piece does it all solution, the Korg is pretty good - it has 8 knobs, 8 sliders and 16 drum pads for triggering things, and it's a one piece jobby.
I am quite impressed with this, it's really the best "jack of all trades" out there...

The best competition for the Kort Kontrol 49 is the ReMote series from Novation - I am quite happy with mine.

Hope this helps.

I use the bcf2000 + bcr2000 combo. You can midi link them so live thinks its only 1 instrument.

Plenty of faders, knobs and buttons. The feedback is very nice, so you always now what state a button has.
