IMO too much use of the vocal loop in the first section. Use it more sparingly, so it's less boringly repetitive and also allows the underlying melody to come through.

production sounds good. not something i would normally listen too, but i appreciate the quality. was this purely Live? any external gear?

Nope no external gear (besides my midi keyboard), all done in Live. Also, I recorded the bass with an actual bass guitar and not a synthesized one.
