64 versus 32 bit

Is there a difference between installing the 64 bit versions of Live and Max and choosing them to run as 32 bit (right click on app icon and choose for 32 bit version) or to download the 32 bit versions? Ableton offers 2 downloads but I don't understand why.
Anyone?

by Forge.
where have you seen the right click option?
They've always been 2 separate apps. I've never heard an official answer why.

64 bit is when you are running 64 bit VSTs or when you have mega rams of samples
Abes recommend that you normally use 32

on a Mac the 32 and 64 bit versions of Live are different builds, you cannot switch between 32 & 64 bit using the same app.
however, Max on the Mac has both 32 & 64 bit versions in the same build, so what the Abes list as the 32 and 64 bit versions of Max for OS X are actually the same thing. i think the Abes list them separately on their downloads page for symmetry with the Windows versions.

If you have a 64 bit system with more than 4 gigs of ram, wouldn't it just make more sense to run Live in 64 bit mode? I wonder why the Abes aren't recommending it if you don't
need the extra memory?
