Is this possible with ReWire?

Hi.
I've been trying to find out a way to successfully sync up Cubase SX3 with Live so that I can have pretty good functionality with both programs. I've tried MIDI Clock but it's unreliable. The best way would be to sync using ReWire but I've found that doing so takes everything I want out of Live (the ability to record and effect in audio in realtime; it seems that in ReWire slave mode Live essentially becomes a playback program).
Except today I was talking to a friend and he says that there's a way with ReWire on the Mac to route the audio outputs of Logic (which he uses as the master) to the audio inputs of Live. So that you can select an input in Logic, but then route that as an output directly to a track in Live.
If this is possible, it would be perfect for me. It would mean I can still use Live exactly how I want to use it (minus the VST plugin functionality, of course).
However, on my PC I can't seem to do this (with Cubase SX as the master). ReWire does not appear as an available output. My question is: is my friend mistaken? Can you actually do this with ReWire? Maybe it's a Mac or a Logic thing, but if not: is there something I need to activate to be able to do this?
Thanks.
