Hey all,

Is it possible to show the names of Return tracks when in Send mode, rather than Send A, Send B, etc?

Not with Abletons script. I just decided on the sends I'm gonna have for my next project and put a sticker above the last 6 encoders with their names on it. Works a charm

Ha! Old skool. I used to find the little stickers that came with MiniDiscs perfect for labelling up my gear. Guess I'll have to dig out my stash!

I just used some from the office store.

BTW I wasn't exact in my description: I have actually 12 sends set up and put labels on top and below the encoders.

The way to access all 12 sends via Pushs encoders, if you care, goes over clyphXs Nk Track racks, with which you can control via a regular rack, track mixer controls (like sends). So my 6 send labeled above the encoders are my first 6 sends, and the 6 below, the ones I have represented on a rack on each track

When you say access 12 sends via Push encoders, do you mean in Track mode? Cos you can already access them all via Send mode, right?

Yes of course in Track mode.

Then I tell you how you get to your sends 7-12 in Track mode.

Now to the sends:

Clyphx includes Macrobat (It's a second manual in your download). Macrobat gives regular racks all sorts of crazy funcionality, just by renaming the rack to one of the Macrobat rack names:
The one you want for your case is the one named nk Track

So for having send control over Sends G-L (The others you already have with Pushs Track modus),
just put an empty rack on your track and rename it: nk Track

Now rename the macros as follows (for mirroring the order in Track mode) (without the number of course )

1: Vol
2: Pan
3: Send G
4: Send H
5: Send I
6: Send J
7: Send K
8: Send L

Now, whenever you select this device in Push in Device mode turning the macros turns the respective mixer control.
You can also take racks you already have on the track, if you have the macros still free and you don't mind giving it this name.

Now copy this rack and paste it into every track.

As I mentioned before I have the first 6 sends labeled above the encoders and the last 6 below (that's why I kept the same order on the macros).

Since I also use PXT Live which has direct control over 5 DrumRack sends, I set it up so, that they are routed into Sends G-K.
So the labels below the encoders also correspond to my DrumRack sends.
(You should of course order them in a way that it makes sense for a DrumRack to have these sends)

How do you find PXT Live? I have LPC-Live for the Launchpad which was incredible, but that's been superseded by getting Push. Are the extra functions in PXT-live worth having?

I have it only a few days now, and it was a little difficult to wrap my head around at first, because it obviously has to reuse buttons on Push that might be counterintuitively named, but it certainly adds awesome fuctionality! My main use is for making drum patterns in its multi pad step sequencer with step automation of DrumRack sends. And it's just great! Just the possibility to automate per drum pad the DrumRack sends sold it for me. But this is just scratching the surface.
The great thing is, that while in the beginning I thought, it might surplant Abletons script, it actually rather extends it, with new functionality.
It's like for the 20 bucks it costs, you get a second Push! (Well minus the second controller of course )

So I've bought PXT-Live and gone for something similar to your sends setup (having drum rack sends on Push is awesome!) And ClyphX - oh my god. I've just replaced my clunky as hell Kapture snapshot system (my sets were taking 3-4 mins to load) with a speedy, easy, far more versatile ClyphX one! Thanks for the tips!

Are you talking about the clypx Snap action?
It's great isn't it?!

There is a new point release of clyphx today, that fixes a bug in it. Things like Snaps have to be as reliable as possible!

You should also check out the Macrobat SnapRack. It allows you to morph between your present settings and the ones in your Snap with a Macro (and by extension Encoder!).

I have developed a whole in-set preset store and recall system for the first 8 Tracks in my Live set that lets you store/recall them from a button matrix (like Lauchpad or Push), based on clyphx. After I test drove it enough, I will share it in the Forums for those interested.

Yes, the Snap action. Really amazing. I'd previously made elaborate preset systems using the Snapshot Morpher M4L device, which limits you to 8 presets and requires a shit load of mapped devices to cover all your settings. Then I discovered Kapture, which did the trick but hovered on the edge of system meltdown... ClyphX Snaps are a real gamechanger. SnapRack sounds cool too. I'm working on a preset setup similar to what you describe - we should compare notes when we're done!

Actually, going back to Sends, maybe you've got some ideas for another little issue I have...

I've routed my Drum Rack sends to the master return tracks, which is all good. But when you mute the track containing the Drum Rack, the pads still send audio to the master returns, so it's not really muted at all.

Any funky workarounds/hints to get around this?

The other slightly frustrating thing is that ClyphX Snap doesn't store drum pad sends, so my preset system has hit a snag there...

I just became aware of this: I would suggest making a clyphx action list that puts all drum rack sends to -inf as well as muting the drumrack track. Put it into the PXT accessory mode and it's easy to access.
Ah shit but how to unmute back to the previous setting?! Let me think about it further


For my preset system: download this file.

Put the User preferences file into the PXT midi remote script folder and the .als file as your 9th track in your set (this is important!) DrumRack tracks count as one track, but other group tracks count as tracks grouped +1).

Make sure that the PXT script is set as your second Midi remote script in Lives preferences. (first one is probably Push).
To use it: keep User pressed when in PXT mode.
(This accesses the acessory mode of PXT.

To morph turn on Morph first (if it's on or off is reflected in the Mute indicator of Track 9) then launch stored preset and navigate to the track the preset is on (Either with the arrows or by pressing Select and the Matrix button for the preset. Then go to PXTs Device mode (preferably while you are still in acessory mode) and use encoder 1 to morph.

Tell me how you like it!

Oh and in the clypx user settings.txt you need to set PROCESS_XCLIPS_IF_TRACK_MUTED to False.
