Scales & Push Relationship

So this is kind of confusing and I can't find an answer anywhere. Does the Scales device in Live and the scales feature on Push work together or separately?
For example say I have a scale like C Minor on the scale midi effect in Live but I have a different scale selected on Push, what will happen? It's a bit confusing as I don't know much about music theory so I don't know if what I'm hearing is "right" or not. Or vice versa. A lot of the scales on Push aren't available in Live's scale effect either which makes it even more confusing.
I just want to play in key so should I not even use Live's midi scale effect while using Push? Or use Push in chromatic mode (does that mean no scale is selected in this mode?) while using live's scale device.
Also what if I'm using a specific scale in Push on a specific project and then close that project and turn off Push. Will that same scale still be remembered by Push when I open that project up again or do I have to set it again in Push? What if I forget which scale I was using?
Sorry for so many questions but 2 different scales features really boggle the mind.
