What would be acceptable to you adonis? Monster truck rallies? Real estate conventions? So because you don't get or like alternative functions or things having to do with spirituality or alternative lifestyles that makes them completely laughable? So what if some of those workshops seem funny or that it is at a nudist colony? Go ahead and laugh to yourself. You don't have to paint everybody with such broad strokes. I see it as a group of people organizing and working for something that they believe in. I may not be into all those things either but I don't have to go. They are certainly taking a hell of a lot more action and initiative than most people. And why is your world so simple as to make all these people "hippies"? If it weren't for "hippies" making music we would not have some of the influences or sounds that we have now.

Sorry to rant but I just don't like to see people being categorized like that. It's divisive

Different strokes dude

I also know that there is going to be some kick ass music there. Maybe you can hide in the bushes dressed in camoflauge and listen

I would like to go but I just think it wouldn't be fashionable to wear sneakers while naked, and I'm not used to walking around barefoot. And... isn't it still a bit chilly this time of year out there for such an event? If you absolutey have to attend just make sure you don't eat any of that 'organic' food those hippies like to conjure up. Take a nice bowl of Wendy's chilli or something.

fair, fair

It was in bad taste of me to make a mockery of the shaman search I meant it more as a joke - coming from my south park background I couldn't help it

sorry if i offended anyone in a malicious way I just thought it was kind of a stereotypical NW kind of thing and the stereo types kind of showed through on the flyer and Fossil Fuel workshop rhetoric

'mask making' 'lucid dreaming'

that's all - my bad, I can't help it if it's funny though..when you live on capitol hill in Seattle and drink Vivace coffee it's hard not to...know what I mean

later

A

I have to say, I'm not a "hippie" but I ascribe to the basic tenants of the larger counterculture.

I've dated insufferable superorganic/alternative therapy girls. They may tend towards pretention and dislogic, but they are twice as far along the evolutionary path than your average Wal-Mart shopper. Thery're trying. Namecalling just illustrates one's own disccomfort with having one's notions challenged.

Who would you trust to help you out in a pinch: a bunch of stony drum circle collective farming types, or a pack of drunken anger-jocks?

No idea. But Dance, man, how trite. No electronic beatmaster coul ever relate to that... probably a bunch of percussion, yuck.
The End of Cheap Fossil Fuel (OMG I'm lauging again)
It's gonna end sometime, better sooner than later...
Plant Path Permaculture & Sustainability (?)
Crops that don't ravage the earth?
Power Animal & mask Making (this is when I lost it!)
Yes, it's silly sounding. Much stupider things are done every day in the name of "goth"...
Lucid Dreaming (ooookaaaaay)
Lucid dreaming is great. Rent Waking Life and get back to us. You're missing out on a very cool aspect of your consciousness.
Vehicle passes right are $20 but there free if you drive an alternatively fueled vehicle (who remembers TEAM AMERICA F.A.G. - the Film Actors Guild)
Anyway, it might shock and dismay you to learn how aciddropping counterculture types invented The Computer and the Analog Synth, Electronic Music, and nearly every other revolutionary thing that brought you to the age of cheap personal computers and software like Ableton Live andd internet message boards. I might not dig Phish or their cabal, but who cares? They are a not-so-distantly related tribe of ours and we'd be smart not to piss them off.

We may need them someday after Bush kicks it into overdrive.

I gave the flyer to a friend who's from Nicaragua he's about 40 (family kids)

he says he'd be interested because of the cross cultural (hispanic and indian - his heritage) aspects of the music and he'd like to hear some of the artist to see how they pull it off - ancient and the new

but he says if you believe in this kind of thing you're probably a lost soul (?)

But the cross cultural aspect is very interesting and intrigueing

I asked about the Mask Making and again he said usually people who 'believe' in this kind of stuff are lost - this party in his words would be a good psychological / social experiment

I said hippies and he laughed but not in a malicious way. Of course 'Cartmans Army' on the SouthParkstudios BBS ate it up and we know how a small percentage of the ableton forum reacted - hmmm

interesting

Well they can't very well advertise they'll be ingesting fantastic amounts of quality chemicals and dancing all night and all day to pounding psychedelic trance and breaks now, can they? The flyer is euphamistic!

For some party people, the bar scene is just a tad unenlightened, the gallery scene a little boring, y'know?
