Very Odd Problem with Live and M-Audio Solo

Just playing around with Live demo and I have discovered this very odd problem.
I set Audio to an ASIO driver and then to my M-Audio FW ASIO device, which is an M-Audio Firewire solo.
I then arm a track to record and strum a chord on my guitar. The level gauge in live spikes. However, no sound is heard through the speakers I have connected to the Solo. I record a sound in. Stop it. The wave form is there. Click play. The loop plays as normal. Yet, no sound again. If I look on the audio panel for my Solo I can see that sound is being outputted. The level is spiking on the control panel for the Solo.
This is all very strange. But is made even stranger when I drag an audio file to an empty space and hit play. THE SOUND PLAYS THROUGH THE SPEAKERS!! What is going on?
Bad drivers? Demon in my machine?
Am I being really dense about this? What the holy hecks is going on?
Thanks very much in advance.
Windows by the way....it works fine with everything else...
