is it possible to play a loop every 4 bars in 2.0?
If I understand you - you are trying to trigger a loop every 4 bars.
You can do this many ways: Here are 3
(1) Manual
The easiest would be to edit your clip in an external so it is actually 4 bars.
(2) Automation
Record the triggering of the loop all the way through the track.
Then record the track activator (speaker) going on and off when you want it (ie. every 4 bars). You could also use the track to automate this in the arrange window.
(3) Arrange window
Take the clip move it into the arrange arrange window and duplicate it every 4 bars. Use the split command to do this.

There are a lot of ways to do this. Which is mostKerrydan wrote:So am I correct in understanding that in Live 2.0 there is no automagical way to take a 1-bar loop, and just get it to place once every four bars (i.e., play for the first bar out of four)?
natural depends on how you are working.
You can do this pretty easily by
pasting your loop into a section of the arranger.
select it, plus four silent bars, and rendering
those four bars to disk.
Or you can record your bar followed by 3 bars
silence direct into a clip in the session
view. Should be pretty easy if you set
the quantization to one bar.

kerrydan i have asked for this in a long list of suggestions sent to ableton last month, i called it retrigger quantization and it seems it would sit beautifully under the launch mode in the clip view... hopefully we see something like this soon, as i like the concept and would use it a lot. YES i do know how to accomplish this now in a wave editor, but it seems super simple to implement into live, so i asked anyway.
Fun stuff.
