Other than a sustain pedal I have no simple solutions.

One of them is a sustain pedal. And it makes Push as an instrument thrice as badass. You will fall in love with notes mode all over again. Those clever fuckers.

On the downside. There have been many threads about polarity issues. So, keep in mind that it may be a potential roadblock.

You can also use Arpeggiator, without it's repeat and arpeggiate functions. It has a note hold function. But it will only hold the notes played after it's turned on... because it's not a sustain pedal.
So, yeah you're looking for a sustain pedal, Push footswitch port n°1; but I thought the arpeggiator trick was worth it.

I'm thinking of getting one too. The polarity issue has to do with how the pedal will behave with the controller - Push in this case. If it's not "matched" to Push, the pedal will sustain when NOT pressed, and vice versa. So it's probably best to get one with a polarity switch, like this one:

I've never looked into pedals before either til now. Well, ones for MIDI controllers at least.

I just had the Line 6 MKII USB floorboard in mind when I said I'm gonna keep it simple. Not that it would have much more functionality with Push though...as far as I'm aware.

I'd probably go for a more expensive one than the one I linked. Cheap shit just usually breaks and you end up spending more. I guess around the £20 ball-park you could find a suitable pedal. As long as it has a polarity switch, just to be sure.

No, I started mixing up Behringer and Line 6 pedalboards with sustain pedals. Although the two former can offer sustain functions and loads more, they're primarily designed to work with units like the POD etc, and don't plug into Push. They're USB powered. This thread offers some more insights into using these boards with Live:

EDIT: Have to mention that the potential of these boards is alluring...not just for Looper, just anything you want to map to them really.
