Hey all....

Im not too sure if this is possible, thus the reason for this question. I'm wondering if there is a spectrum analysis plug-in that I can put on say, the master channel, and be able to make each track show it's spectrum in a different colour/manner, so I can distinquish where different elements are clashing etc.?

Im using Voxengo span at the moment, and the spectrum appears as a coloured line, so I guess im wondering if i can split the spectrum into multiple different coloured lines for the different tracks...kick, snare, hats, bass, pads etc.?

i remember using a steinberg one with cubase ,i think it was part of the mastering edition package .i never used it properly ,but i'll have a look in my old hard drives to see if i can find out the name .

they are directx plugins,can't use them in live.

The one you are using is the best one out there that I have found and even better its free. You can use Span for what you want but in a different way. For example, if you think 2 sound sources are clashing you can easily check this with Span. Lets say you have a kik drum and a bassline going and you hear some mudiness or cant get them to sit together properly. Solo each one individually. Take note of where the peaks are and if they are the same change the EQ of one of them so they occupy different spaces.

Totally works like a charm and that Voxengo guy is a totally amazing programmer

check steinberg mastering edition plugins ,thanks to this post ,i rediscovered the plug in i never used ,spectrograph looks quite usefull .

but i think the best spectral analyser is the ear .
