Hi all,

I want to know if there's a way I can auto split an audio clip.
for example: I want to take a 1-bar audio clip and slice it into 8-8th note clips automatically.

I know cubase can do that, and I wonder if Ableton can too.

Anyone knows how to do it or can confirm that it can't be done?

Nope. Split em individually.

You could try the slice to midi function to achieve the same result . One of the best features in Live.

Just adding a +1 for this feature (is this a good place for feature requests?)

Having seen this done in Cubase, it would be a handy thing to have in Ableton. Maybe a 'Split to Grid' command that would cut according to the current grid lines? The Cubase version simply uses the length you have selected from the left hand edge of the clip...

In the meantime if you are looking too, one slight shortcut in Ableton is:

- Select a section inside a clip (ie not touching either end)
- Hit (Ctrl+E)this will split the selection at both sides, so you end up with 3 clips not just 2.
