XY Instrument Morph

This is one of the coolest things in Bitwig, it's sort of like FM8's morph pad. You set 4 instruments on each corner and you can morph between them. I just tried to make one with the M4L XY pad, but when I thought I was done I realize that ableton doesn't allow you to assign the same parameter to two knobs, so I can't make the bottom right one (for instance) get quieter on both Y and X, which is what I need. Someone has to have made an M4L plugin for this right? I can't find it anywhere. Thanks

i think u just need to use 2 Instrument racks.
Inside Rack:
macro 1 --> 0-127 Inst 1
macro 1 --> 127-0 Inst 2
macro 1 --> 127-0 Inst 3
macro 1 --> 127-0 Inst 4
macro 2 --> 127-0 Inst 1
macro 2 --> 0-127 Inst 2
macro 2 --> 127-0 Inst 3
macro 2 --> 127-0 Inst 4
macro 3 --> 127-0 Inst 1
macro 3 --> 127-0 Inst 2
macro 3 --> 0-127 Inst 3
macro 3 --> 127-0 Inst 4
macro 4 --> 127-0 Inst 1
macro 4 --> 127-0 Inst 2
macro 4 --> 127-0 Inst 3
macro 4 --> 0-127 Inst 4
Outside Rack:
macro 1 --> 0-127 macro 1
macro 1 --> 127-0 macro 3
macro 2 --> 0-127 macro 2
macro 2 --> 127-0 macro 4
maybe autofilter should be nice to use as the morph-fx. Nice Idea, i will try that out tonight

. Only did it with 2 Instruments atm.
Okay to be honest it looks nice on the paper, but maybe iam to dumb this mornign to get it right...

Yeah I couldn't get it to work right either. I forget what the problem was but something was wrong.

No, the trick is to have two volume controls per instrument that do min/max.
So you have a rack with 4 chains. In each of those chains create a second rack. Now each chain has Two volume controls. You'll end up mapping 8 parameters to 8 macro knobs.
After that, you do the alternating mapping magic down to two knobs.
The only major problem is that in the center position is it very quiet. If you wanted to be tricky, you'd map a Utility on each of the 8 volumes that compensates in reverse of the mapping, but not at +\- 40, something a little more subtle.
Now when you put it at one corner, both volumes of one synth will be max, both volumes of its diagonal will be -inf, and the two others will have one max/one -inf. since at least one is -inf, it'll still be muted.

The same could be cool for an AudioFX rack, no?!
If someone goes through the trouble to make the subtle Utility version of this, please post the rack somewhere!
(Leave the actual instrument/FX out for this)
Thanks!

Yeah, all this is particularly interesting with the recent (free) maxforcats pack release on the Live downloads page.
I only wish the xy gesture had loop quantization and the ability to record/recall multiple gestures

Oh, one last thing. I also noted to my friend how it'd be nice if it had a pop-out option for a larger xy

(I'm using it on my screen with a finger)

Well, the way your2die4 described it, it sounded like it could be a regular Live rack. It would just have to be set up correctly and tweaked for the individual Utility sweet spots. So the links to the M4L devices are nice, but using M4L always comes at a price (usually you lose control over parameters or it's choppy).
So if this described set-up with just Live racks would work, that that would be much preferable IMO!

The link to the m4l device is meant to show me that there are quantized and gesture-recall xy pads out there. Which sounds pretty intense

. But yeah, I am very tight with my money..

Ok, that does sound special, but the Live rack only thing also would be useful.

Okay. So with the Utility thing, it is actually at 0 at the same time as a fader is at zero. So the range is like zero to 20db, and 20db is where the volume reaches zero.
But it fluctuates pretty badly since it is a linear curve, and I don't know what I'm doing. Running a sine wave from Operator at default -12db level, it'd bump up to -11.92 before reaching the center. At center it goes down to -12.98.
This was only between two points. I didn't try to do four.
