MIDI tracks question

Hello!
I often control my external equipment with tracks in Ableton and only use raw MIDI tracks.
On an audio track the volume fader controls the output from the track to the master but on a MIDI track there is only a velocity indicator instead of a fader. Seems like a bit of a waste for me.
I'm using a controller with a custom Remote Script to control Ableton and it'd be wicked sweet to have a fader that is assignable to a MIDI parameter instead of not being able to assign it to anything at all.
Is there any control statement in the API that can be used for this purpose instead of having a muted fader whenever my red box is over a MIDI track?
