Hello,

I have a live set fast approaching this Friday, and am having appalling INTERNAL timing issues with Push/Ableton.

Occasionally, the clips drift out of time within a scene (*THIS IS NOT A SIMPLE CLIP LOOP TIMING ISSUE, I AM AN EXPERIENCED 8 YEAR + PRO USER*) Then on launch the the next scene, there is a very noticeable jump in the audio where the internal timing corrects itself. Obviously this sounds terrible.

It is purely an internal timing issue, as there is no external kit involved.

My set has 17 tracks and 2 returns, and about 140 scenes.

The clips are mostly audio, but there is also a 909 and an 808 which I want to use for programming on the fly live (half the reason I bought Push).

I am using push to perform the live set mainly from session mode, but switching between session/note for programming drums.

The delay in audio seems to occur when selecting between tracks, and/or recording in patters on the 909/808.

I have spend most of the weekend trying to solve this but to no avail. These are the steps I have taken so far:
- Checked to ensure ALL audio clips are properly looped to the beat. No funny timings etc.
- Set all audio clips to the same warping type (complex)
- Tried turning on & off "delay compensations" - having this ON causes some strange PUSH behaviour by the way, but that is another issue.

I find this problem hard to replicate or to find a particular pattern of button that causes it. I seems to occur once the scene has been playing for a few bars.

This is almost a show stopper for my set as it will sound awful live.

Please if you have any suggestions, I am in desperate need of help!

I have a brand new Solid Hawk music pc laptop
Intel i7
8 GB Ram
Ableton ticks over about 12%

Edirol UA25 Sound Card.

I have push currently connected to a USB 3.0 Port.

With all the stuff you already checked, I would think it is something third party (virus scanner, actual virus, hard drive failure - just cause it's new doesn't mean working properly, internet plugins working in the background).... it just really sounds like something is bogging down your system from accessing the drive info.

yep, there is a good chance that it is a problem with your new computer setup, not Push or Live itself.

Interesting thought thanks. Though it is a custom made music laptop so its totally clean. All I have on it is Ableton & Serato.

Any other settings / tweaks i should look for? It also has an SSD so is generally lighting quick.

It seems to occur after the same clips have been paying (& looping) for a while.

Think ill try the same set on my desktop and see if the same thing happens.

Have you tried the DPC latency checker?

Leave it running for an hour or 2 and see if you get any spikes

also, are you seeing the disk overload warning indicator lighting up in Live?

I had pretty much the same issue.

Clips not launching in global synched timing. (sounded like really shitty experimental stuff) Everything synched in 1/16 notes instead of 1 bar like shown in the global quantization setting.
1. All Clips on Global Quantization and Trigger Mode
2. HD and CPU usage not over 10%
3. Fresh formatted and new set up Mac Pro
4. Everything tested, no Virus
5. No unusual activity on $top in mac terminal
6. No Antivirus detection software
7. Every other set is working just fine

Now i took a backup-file of the same set i was working on and this fixed my issue. But i am a bit nervous if this would happen again i wouldn’t have the time or resources to fix it on stage. That would be very embarrassing.

If anyone can tell me what parameters have influence on the timing of launching clips i would be so relieved.
