Live 5 still no movie support !!

I'm disappointed, you guys at Ableton say you've listened to customers... Good point, but in Live 5 I don't see anything about film music and it seems there still isn't any possibility to open say a Quicktime movie inside Live to be able to work on a soundtrack in sync with the video...
Seems you want to compete with other DAW software, but you don't realize how important this feature is.
Really too bad...
Of course all the rest sounds good but...

There are loads of apps that sync up to Live.
Why would you want support for it?
Just use an app like "revision", sync it up and press play.
Cheers

Well for me, Live ReWired to LogicPro has been very flakey...
major drag... the combo is so cool.
Ableton, either add video support or fix the ReWire implementation pleaseeee... It seems to change with each Live revision... it goes better or worse each time, its a crap shoot.
Ideally thy would add video support in the ap AND fix the ReWire!

Movie support? How about separate Ableton application?

Every other DAW has it, why do I ask ?? Because in the REAL world Revision does not work flawlessly.. Impossible to use that combination to compose a movie soundtrack as fast as, say in DP4.
This is reality, not just : cool ! I opened Revision and Live, played a couple of minutes, fantastic ! it works ! We need pro features.

Yes. But they have to be pro audio features.
The reason i don't want video integrated in Live is simple.
Osx tiger has like 70% of the stuff you would need for video sequencing (check out "quartz composer")
So you would only need an app that controls that part of tiger.
Instead of building a video app from the ground up.
Off course this all doesn't apply on pc. But longhorn will fix that all

you should set up a poll to see how many users are interested in Video ... might send the message to the Abes.

ableton should make a video version.
to work with video clips in the same way as live.
then you can sync them together, vj/dj interaction!

if so be sure to define it really clearly that you are wanting to score to video, not VJ with live.

Maybe it has something to do with Live's buddy-buddy relationship with Digidesign?? If you could import a quicktime as easily as you can with PT LE, why would you need PT LE?
Anyhow, video support would be the cat's pajamas, but not having it isn't going to stop me from composing music for video projects in Live 5. I did it a few times in Live 4 and I was really happy with the stuff I did. It would be cool to see a little quicktime window going, but you gotta work within your limitations.

Fruity Loops added Video support with ease and didn't change it at all. I don't understand why people keep thinking that Ableton would have to build Live all over again or change the direction of the program if they added Video. Did they build Live over for "Operator"? Video option could be a plugin, Ableton just doesn't want to invest the time.

yea that's true. just add a new video instrument. and then have a new video effects section.
