I'd recommend Ohmforce's Fromhage as the sound and the price are right, but you might check the others here:

What's wrong with EQ 4?

eq4 definitely does the trick for me - i've been through *a lot* of filters, and the eq4 compares very well.
mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

how would you set it up for either high or low pass sweeps with a single assignable knob. when the knob is zeroed no signal processing is heard. can this be done i dont want to punch the effect in and out.

With eq4 turn off filter 2 and 3, set filter 1 to lowpass and 4 to high pass,
then you can use the freq knob (of either flter 1 or 4) to get a low or high pass filter sweep.

yeah does the trick not to fancy but works fine. l like the classic as you make it go a little crazy with the envlopes and sync it to tempo. the classic has a mix setting so you can have a dry signal.
