Seriously, you can start building a simple beat with DrumRack using for example a 909 and/or 808 kit. Add a bassline using a synth plugin like Operator or Analog, or a sampler like Simpler.

As an alternative, you can download and install a good and free VST synthesizer like for example u-he TyrellN6. Don't hesitate to use more than one instance of the plugin, one for the bass, one for some pad, another one for some Fx sound (like white noise with filter), each one in its own track.

Of course, don't forget to add audio effects in all of your tracks: EQ to remove unwanted frequencies or to enhance sounds, compressors to add some punch, gate to remove some background noise or to shape the transients, delays and reverbs to build some kind of 3D image in your mix, etc.

My best advice: buy this book » Mixing Audio, Concepts, Practices and Tools (Roey Izhaki). Read it entirely and very carefully, take your time, practice a lot, then read it another time, or more if you can, it's definitely worth it!
