Saving Slices as samples?

Post by RichardFlex » Sun Aug 03, 2014 10:21 am

Iam playing around with the slicing function in Ableton Live 9 especially with drum loops.
If I use Slices to new Midi track it works very well but I wonder if the single Slices are saved somewhere so that I can put them in my sample library or do a new mixed drum rack later.
If I save with collect all I only see the original drum loop but not the single Slices / Samples.

Any tip is appreciated

Slices are basically just different start points used on a single, longer audio file.

To save/archive them as individual audio files I would:
- create clips with single notes and approproate lenghts for each desired sample
- freeze the whole track (i.e. all single clips) and convert to audio

Tip: if you name the clips before freezing, the audio files will be named accordingly.

• Slice presets > Slice to single Sampler
• open Sampler's Zone Edit area and select all slices
• right-click > Crop Samples

now you have each slice as a separate audio file saved to your project folder.
