Envelope Automation within a midi or audio region

Post by davidpag » Thu Aug 07, 2014 6:58 pm

Hello:

After a few unlucky forum searches I have to ask how to do what was incredibly easy in Live 8 that has now become not so easy in Live 9:

In Live 8, any parameter selected on the track would show up in the clip view envelope drop down so that you could draw automation that is embedded within a midi or audio region. If that region is looping the automation is as well.

In live 9 the same drop down only has one option: midi ctrl; Although the info view states "...any device in the tracks device chain, or on the mixer..." may be automated. Does anyone know how to get all the other automatable parameters to show up in this drop down?

Thank you very much.

if you select "Show all envelopes" from that first drop down then all the automatable parameters should then become available in a second drop down...

LOL, I was just struggling with this last night and had to be very specific with what to google.

Right click the parameter in the VST, rack, etc and click "Show Automation" After that, it should show up in the Clip dropdown for the envelope. At least, this was the solution to my not being able to automate within the clip envelope for a drum rack. I'm not sure if this would work for a third-party VST, but if you macro mapped whatever parameters in the third-party VST, I think you'd be golden.
