Routing external synth and then recording in Live 9?

Hi all.
I have an Wardof Blofeld, midi synced through USB to Live 9.
I don't have a keyboard, so I'm using my Push to trigger the excellent sounds from it, create patterns and put into Live. However, I cannot record them? I know how to record an external MIDI device but iLIVE will not record the sounds?
I also want to use the filters and automation from the Blofeld, As I basically want to just jam, record and change...how can I not do this?
Luckily I saved the pattern I had and can replicate it.
