Hi,
I often search for a drum-sound via the preview function (Ableton Live Suite 9 with many additional Live Packs). In some cases I can drag the instrument/clip/sample/sound to a track and use the pattern immediately. In other cases only the instrument appears in the track as it seems to drag only the instrument itself and not the preview-MIDI-file (or audio).
My question:
How can I access the preview-file and use it in a session-clip?
Is it possible at all?

There is also a post which mentions a kind of shortcut to go directly to the files:

"I saw a shortcut on a youtube video. Unfortunately, I don't remember the video or shortcut. It would be something like shift click or shift doubleclick or control or alt or something. Either on the little wave file or on the present. Sorry I can't be more helpful. If I find it, I will post it."

Does this shortcut really exist? It has not been posted yet.

I assume that there is no such shortcut, and I can't immagine Ableton being too keen on people knowing the location of the preview files, let alone using them. Martin Gifford may have mixed it up with another shortcut anyway.

The only thing I am aware of is using shift+enter to preview the selected instrument or sample when you've deactivated the prelisten function. I personally get quite distracted when each and every object I click on while browsing makes a sound. Sometimes I'm too lazy to shift my hand to the mouse and just arrow down my way through the browser.
