Global warming has gotten worse since they started.....coincidence?

Nothing hun? Or is it that people have been kicked out of the system like me? (nah, prolly just a boring subject to most )

So I saw "spark" the burning man thing and though it's a couple of years old, it fascinates me.

first and foremost, it's an awful lot of people using an awful lot of of "corporate" products to be "anti establishment/etc." The idea of wasting so much to "make a point" is lost on me. I think most people are there for the spectacle and the drugs.

Second, I wish I was that kinda person. For some reason, though I think 99% of it is bullshit, I'm drawn to it. I'm not a huge artist. I don't believe in kids being at something like that. I don't think people should run amok and there are deaths, but it's still fascinating.

Used to be cool.

Now it sucks.

What used to be "cool" about it?

I’ve never gone and by all accounts it’s well past its heyday, like Coachella.

But I also can’t think of anything special and different improving because a shit ton more people participate in it. People ruin everything eventually.

Burning Man was never my bag, can't comment except to say that multimillionaire tech kids have set up camps with servants ands guards at the gate, they fly into them via helicopter etc... There goes any point the no money thing at that event ever had... but it still costs hundreds of dollars to attend and is a competition for wealthy people to make disposable art, take drugs and listen to a Four on the floor beat 24/7, so if that floats your boat.

For whatever reason, this is occupying my thoughts. Not sure I can convey what I'm thinking but it's probably a sense of romance (false sense I'm sure) and kinda anger. It seem so hypocritical to me.

And again, the irresponsibility of having children there. Clearly they should have never had them in the first place

Why?! That doesn't make sense to me.

Should children not see their parents dance?
Should children not see other people dance?
Should children not sleep in tents?
Should children not see people on drugs? (sorry that train left the station a l o n g time ago )

Then tell me: Why do parents always assume they know how other parents should raise their kids?!
Did they somehow not get the: This is none of your business message?!

Hippies let their children play in the mudd and see them naked, conservatives take them to the shooting range, so that they can get their first easy kill in. (In form of the shooting instructor )
And the world keeps on turning....

Well, some friends of mine are there who are neither particularly rich nor particularly into drugs. Artists / anarchists who like it for the mad expression of human imagination it also seems to be.

Sucks about the increasing ability of rich people to buy their way in, though. Here at Afrika Burn we've had people send poor black workers in to build their camp for them which kind of messes up the radical self reliance thing. Problem with radical libertarianism, I guess.

But my impression from some of the posters on this forum is that you see *everything* through this cynical and world-weary misanthropical lens.

I do. Especially the hippie hipster anarchist "but still use all the evils known to man while constantly bitching about corporations except apple" bafoons

When I was a younger age that would appreciate this type thing it sounded like way too much effort for roughing it and given the amount of partying involved, being hung over in a tent without privacy or a shower sounds like a living hell.

And I don’t think you need to be on drugs to enjoy the spectacle. You need to be on drugs to tolerate all the other people on drugs. Ever arrived at a bar an hour late and everybody is already fully tossed? This would be like 1,000 times more annoying.
